About the institute for design professionals
The institute for design professionals was established to offer affordable continuing education to licensed architects, professional engineers, and land surveyors. Programs are specifically designed to meet state requirements for continuing education for the design professions. idp is recognized by the New York State Education Department as an approved continuing education provider through its affiliation with the American Institute of Architects/Continuing Education System. idp is also a continuing professional competency sponsor in a number of other states including New Jersey, Maine, Virginia, and North Carolina.
idp offers quality in-person programming that will simultaneously enhance your professional abilities and fulfill the licensee’s mandatory continuing education requirements. idp is committed to providing up-to-date information on pressing topics affecting the design professional. Each program is designed with consistent quality, convenience, and affordability in mind. Our goal is to provide licensees with outstanding education programming opportunities that will contribute to their professional success and assist in fulfilling mandatory continuing education requirements.

New York Licensees
New York licensed Professional Engineers must include one (1) hour of Ethics within their 36 hour continuing education requirement each triennial cycle. This requirement became effective for registration periods beginning August 1, 2011 and after.
New Jersey Licensees
New Jersey licensed Professional Engineers are required to complete (2) of the required 24 hours of professional development in professional practice ethics within each biennial cycle.
